Pine Trees and Snow

Pine Trees and Snow

A week ago today Atlanta and much of the South woke up to a blanket of snow, an infrequent occurrence in this region of the country. In fact, last week's weather also brought about the unusual circumstance of snow being reported on the ground in 49 out of the 50 states in the country. What was really unusual about this event in the normally mild South is that today, a week later, there is still snow on the ground in sheltered areas not reached by the sun that finally arrived the end of last week. By the time I grabbed this shot on last Thursday, the snow was 4 days old, and topped off by a crust of ice, as you can see by the shiny surface in the photo.
