Kokusai Lantern v2

Kokusai Lantern v2

You may notice this is a repeat of the previous post, albeit a monochromatic version. I've always been somewhat indecisive in many things, including the post processing of my images. It reminds me of the two old guys in the balcony on the Muppets show who start off saying something is great, then end up convincing themselves it was terrible. So as I worked on this image, I tried it in both color and sepia versions. Turns out, I saw merit in each interpretation, so I decided to post this version also for your consideration. Please go ahead and leave comments, all 6 faithful viewers of this blog, telling which version you like and why. No prizes or special gifts will be awarded—just that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from website interactions that build "community." :-)

  • The black and white one is my favorite -- just so many interesting shapes and shadows that disappear in the color one.

  • I agree...the other one's color really pops in a cool way, but this one has a whole different feel--even though the lettering is modern and there's an electrical chord hanging there, it feels like it's from another time. Beautiful!

  • Me too -- I love the feel of the b/w. Well done. In some ways I think it better captures the feel of where you shot this!
