Not-So-Dry Falls

Not-So-Dry Falls

Parts of the Southeast have been inundated with rain for weeks on end, prompting laments and some pithy comments on Facebook, such as the friend who wrote they were looking to buy some gopher wood (gold star if you recognize the source of that obscure reference). Yesterday I took some friends on the road from Franklin to Highlands, North Carolina, which passes several waterfalls, the most spectacular being Dry Falls—an ironic name for this week given the amount of recent rainfall swelling the river. For once I actually had my tripod with me, bothered to carry it down to the falls and grabbed some slow shutter images, blurring the impressive cascade.
