Studio Work

Took a 2-day class recently on using studio lighting at the Showcase School of Photography. This friendly face was actually one of the members of the class but turned out also to be a very obliging model for us. I was surprised with how well this turned out--you know how it is, when you think, "wow, did I take that?"

Liked the photo in color and also in black and white, but couldn't help trying to do something with it to make it a little different. A friend of mine said recently she's "trying to wrap her mind" around the desaturated look. This may not be for her, but I think I'm pretty happy with it.

  • Portrait work is outside my remit tho' the desat and softness supports well here. But it is the pose and crop that forms the fundamentals and you got that right, I'd say.

  • This is great! The lighting is just right..and I do love the natural tones and colors. I much prefer this to any overly saturated version.
